Before your arrive

Visa and travel requirements

If you require a visa to enter China, you should start the process as early as possible. We can support your application with a "Letter of Participation" - simple request one upon registration. You will need to register for Intermodal Asia beforehand.

China offers 30-day visa-free travel to multiple countries, including: UK, Canada, Brunei, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Australia, Poland, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Slovenia, Norway, Slovakia, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein, South Korea, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, Latvia, Japan, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Russia, and Sweden.

Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center (also known as SWEECC) is located in the heart of Shanghai. It is about an hour from Shanghai Pudong International Airport and is easily accessible by both metro and bus.

Intermodal Asia Shuttle Bus
For those visitors unfamiliar with navigating Shanghai's taxi and travel system, this may be the most convenient and reliable option for you. Please note there is no need to reserve this service in advance.

Several bus lines run through to SWEECC, 314, 787, 815, 610, 786.

Upon arrival

Badge collection and local travel

To help you navigate your way to Intermodal Asia, our complimentary shuttle bus service will run from the InterContinental Shanghai Expo to SWEECC (North, Halls 1 - 7) each day of the event. There is no need to reserve this service. The shuttle bus schedule will be ready soon. 

Your badge collection experience at Intermodal Asia may be a little different to what you have experienced outside of China  before, so please do read this section carefully:

  1. Bring both your passport and registration code. Your code will be in confirmation email, and/or sent to you via sms. You will need to go to the North Square of SWEECC. Our shuttle bus service will drop you here.
  2. Head towards the Service Counter, which will have a desk labelled No ID Card / International Visitors.
  3. You will be prompted to use the facial recognition camera.
  4. Please then head up the stairs, to the second floor, where you will find the registration counter.
  5. You will then be able to collect your registration badge, providing that you have your registration code, which will be on your confirmation email or sent to you via sms.

If you have any any issues during this process, our friendly team will be onsite to assist.

  • Before you travel, we suggest preparing a list of your destiniations in Mandarin, which can be given to taxi drivers or used to help navigate Shanghai. Here is the Mandarin for the SWEECC:
